As part of the Worldtronics festival for electronic music, Berlin’s House of World Cultures featured a very special treat for the discerning connoisseur. Staged and curated by seminal musician, label owner, DJ, promoter and radio presenter Gudrun Gut, the showcase “7 Women No Cry” introduced a range of exceptional female talents from the smallest niche to the broadest beat.
Picking and mixing the best of “women in technology” from Georgia to Argentina and Colombia to Japan, the festival’s opening night covered the entire spectrum from abstract to accessible, avant-garde to amazing.
For added scope and vision, all sets were accompanied by equally sassy and thoughtful visuals, tailored to their individual styles. Each artist performed to a carefully crafted 30-minute live VJ set, mixed and designed by ffv’s brightest female talents.
The stars of this night to remember: Rosario Blefari, The Sound of Lucrecia, Dorit Chrysler, Julia Holter, Mico, Tusia Beridze and Manekinekod, followed by a turntable set by Berlin’s mistress of ceremony herself, Gudrun Gut, at the event’s aftershow party.
