A worthy cause and a star-studded affair: Together with our client STARnetONE we did our part for the annual “Tribute to Bambi” fundraiser with a welcome repeat performance of last year’s enchanted video design. Collecting a cool 2 ½ million Euros since its inception in 2001, the popular gala has become Germany’s foremost children’s charity event.

On the night, 800 leading lights from entertainment, business, politics and media followed the call of the wild, well, of the cutest creature and paragon of childlike fragility, to help disadvantaged kids. Returning to Station-Berlin, the event attracted well-known supporters of the foundation like Sylvie van der Vaart, supermodels Franziska Knuppe and Eva Padberg as well as Berlin’s mayor Klaus Wowereit. And true to the spirit of the event, many brought their own kids along.

So, same procedure as last year? Well, not quite! While the tribute’s spirit and intent remain the same, there have been quite a few innovations and alterations on stage and behind the scenes. Not least of all the show’s new title: “Bambi hilft Kindern” (Bambi helps children) and a matching new logo sporting not one, but two of the adorable creatures. 2010 also saw the show’s move to Germany’s premier public TV station ARD who broadcasted the edited show on October 15th.

In another "Tribute to Bambi" premiere, celebs made a direct contribution by playing for charitable donations on stage using the event’s “Bambinomat” – a spirited game with plenty of fun. And like the event itself, flora&faunavisions stepped up their bit with several visual extras and highlights. In addition to the gala’s expansive backdrop projection, animation design and templates for TV edits, ffv supplied all visual designs for the night’s guessing game including playful icons and animations. But that’s not all: broadening the scope of the event – not just in terms of content, but also actual projection surface – this year’s stage backdrop covered a staggering 32 metres for optimised widescreen viewing, broken up by strategically placed LED lights.

Reflecting the truly encompassing spirit of the event – reaching all ages, tastes and parts of society – the night’s music programme embraced many styles and generations with über-popular violinist David Garrett, British pop band Hurts and German rock veteran Peter Maffay who was joined on stage by harp player Cornelia Patzelsperger. Naturally, each of these iconic and idiosyncratic acts received their own visuals to accompany the performance, courtesy of flora&faunavisions!
