To prep the field for this year’s Ski World Championship at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, flora&faunavisions produced a smooth, yet racy 40 sec. intro for the national and international broadcast of the Alpine event’s opening gala. With more than 3.5 million viewers in Germany, the broadcast achieved a 30 per cent market share in Bavaria alone – beating all of the day’s other programmes!

Based on a universe-crossing – and universal – theme, the fast-paced show intro echoes the spirit of the subsequent show: a dynamic and fast-paced homage to international team spirit and winter sports.

Starting out in deep space, surrounded by swirly nebulae and galaxies, the clip takes viewers on a dizzying journey of two perfectly aligned shooting stars, heading – or skiing – straight for Planet Earth and their final goal: the alpine Ski World Championship.

In their breath-taking race through space, clouds and all the way to the peaks and summits of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the intro’s abstract protagonists highlight the event’s global approach and universal appeal. Stand-ins for each and every fan, viewer and participant, they represent the entire world of winter sports making a beeline for THE season’s skiing event.

Causing a great visual stir and raising dust (well, snow), the clip pulls all strands and themes together in a refreshingly modern finish. In a delightful balancing act between futuristic artifice and real-life, down-to-earth fun and games, the on-screen view resolves into a flesh-and-blood ski champ ... who leaves the frame to ski down the real slope, trade his futurist outfit for a traditional one and open the proceedings!
