On the 27th of March 2007, the computer retailer Gravis celebrated the opening of its new Berlin flagship store at Ernst-Reuter-Platz. 160 guests comprising of Gravis’ marketing department, members of Berlin’s creative elite, Gravis suppliers and the wife of the former German Federal President, Christina Rau. flora&faunavisions created an event design that drew heavily upon existing elements in the shop and utilising the possibilities afforded by working with a client with an inexhaustible pool of computer equipment.

We created a lighting design that made use of the RGB ceiling panels and brought the space to life with a programmed sequence that suggested the action of the blue LED on an Apple computer while ‘asleep’. We reflected the green CI colour using ETC Source 4 lighting to highlight architectural elements on the terrace and we produced video loops that ran on many of the computer screens dotted about the space. Furthermore, we produced films for two video projectors.

Working within the principle of ‘less is more’ we provided a very clean and minimal event design that perfectly echoed the stringent and stylish Gravis brand and that of Apple Macintosh, one of Gravis main suppliers.

Guests were treated to a mix of inventive snacks provided by The Foodists, live music and DJ and had the opportunity to listen to a speech from Apple’s worldwide Nr. 2, Pascal Cagni.
