As part of the company’s European Leadership Conference 2011 at Munich’s ICM, electronics device manufacturer Konica Minolta invited its European sales partners to preview the company’s entire – and exhaustive – range of printers.
To set the stage for the expansive presentation, the day’s opening video, designed and produced by flora&faunavisions, combined sheer size (a 30-metre screen) with great resolution (4xHD) and interactive elements to reflect Konica Minolta’s precise, yet dynamic nature – and the company’s emphasis on partnership.
To this end, the video encouraged participation by reacting to audience input. The aim of the game: to charge two floating balls with energy (using laser pointers) until their swooshes of sizzling power join to reveal the event’s overall logo: a fun, involving and apposite prelude to the partnership-themed event.
While the video’s principle was introduced by a quick, playful pantomime performance to demonstrate how it works and persuade the crowd to join in, most of the work took place behind the scenes, where the ffv team split the opening video’s choreography into several stages and elements, ready to be respliced in real-time to mirror the audience’s input and involvement. For added visual depth of the spheres and their swirling swooshes, production also incorporated both 2-D and 3-D technologies.
