“Stadt als Beute" is a 35mm feature film produced by Filmgalerie 451 based on the original theatre play by German director René Pollesch. It comprises of three episodes directed by Irene von Alberti, Miriam Dehne and Esther Gronenborn respectively. flora&fauna supplied a concept for the title sequence of the film that focussed on the city and on the protagonists’ journey through it throughout the course of the film.
We opted for a black and white graphic animation of Berlin’s streets, as seen from a bird’s eye perspective. Our title sequence served as the thread that ran through the film and formed the link between the three episodes.
The film premiered at the Berlinale in February 2005 and went on to receive a general release in Germany in June 2005.
